GHS02: the flame pictogram
Rules last checked 25 September 2026. A labelling reference, not legal advice.
GHS02 is the CLP hazard pictogram with the flame symbol (Annex V, 1.2). Among the hazard classes the candle and home-fragrance tools cover, it goes on the label for:
- Flammable liquid, Category 1: H224, "Extremely flammable liquid and vapour"
- Flammable liquid, Category 2: H225, "Highly flammable liquid and vapour"
- Flammable liquid, Category 3: H226, "Flammable liquid and vapour"
The pictogram is a black symbol on a white background inside a red diamond. The candle and home-fragrance tools draw it from the official GHS artwork published by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The symbol is the same in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
